  74.      OWL Basic Bookkeeping is an easy-to-use program that maintains
  75.      complete and accurate accounting of income and expenses.  In
  76.      creating Basic Bookkeeping, our objective was to produce a
  77.      program that was intuitive and required no prior knowledge of
  78.      accounting.  Basic Bookkeeping uses the "single entry"
  79.      bookkeeping method that is recommended by the IRS.  This
  80.      accounting method is easy to use and is equally suited for
  81.      small businesses and individuals.

  83.      With Basic Bookkeeping, you can produce a variety of expense,
  84.      income, profit and general ledger reports. You can define up
  85.      to 1000 different expense accounts to fully categorize your
  86.      expenses for tax purposes.

  88.      Version 4 employs the concept of folders where each folder
  89.      contains income and expense data that may be reported either
  90.      separately or in combination.  Thus, Basic Bookkeeping may be
  91.      used for multiple businesses, multiple divisions within a
  92.      single business or for both business and personal accounting.

  94.      An import option within Basic Bookkeeping links the program to
  95.      our invoicing and sales management program (OASIS) allowing
  96.      direct transfer of income data from OASIS into Basic

  139. UPGRADING FROM EARLIER VERSIONS (Versions 1 through 3 for DOS)
  140.  
  141.      Complete instructions for upgrading your data files from Basic
  142.      Bookkeeping Versions 1 through 3 are contained in  the  user's
  143.      guide.  When installing Basic Bookkeeping for Windows, DO  NOT
  144.      install  it  in the same directory where your DOS  version  of
  145.      Basic Bookkeeping is installed.

  147. INSTALLATION
  148.  
  149.      To  install OWL Basis Bookkeeping for Windows, use the Program
  150.      Manager to run BBKW45.EXE.  For example, if you are installing
  151.      from drive A:
  152.  
  153.      1.   From  the  Program Manager File menu or Windows 95  Start
  154.           menu, choose Run.
  155.      2.   In the Run dialog box, type "A:BBKW45" and choose OK.
  156.  
  157.      The setup program offers the following installation options:
  158.      
  159.      1.   Installation Directory?  If you already have a copy of BBK 
  160.           for Windows on your hard disk, then choose the directory 
  161.           where it is presently installed.  The default is C:\OWL_BUS.
  162.      2.   Backup  Replaced Files?:  Select "Yes" if you would like 
  163.           the setup program to make backup copies of all files that 
  164.           are replaced during the installation.
  165.      3.   Full or Upgrade Installation?  If you are installing to the 
  166.           same drive and directory where BBK for Windows was previously 
  167.           installed then choose the Upgrade Installation option.  This 
  168.           will prevent your existing BBK data files from being 
  169.           overwritten.

  171.      The  setup program creates a program group named "OWL Business
  172.      Apps"  with  icons for Basic Bookkeeping for  Windows  (BBK  -
  173.      WIN), the Basic Bookkeeping User's Guide (BBK - User's Guide),
  174.      the  Basic Bookkeeping Order Form (BBK - Order Form) and Basic
  175.      Bookkeeping README (BBK - README).

  179.      To  run the OWL Basic Bookkeeping for windows click on the
  180.      BBK - WIN icon.
